I did a lot of damage in just one Goodwill shopping trip this week. The kids came along with me so we ended up buying some things that I probably would not have bought if they hadn’t been along. The good news is that we found some things to help fill the Operation Christmas Child boxes that we are putting together, which was the main reason I even went to Goodwill this week. Target donates their unsold items to Goodwill and they must have recently sent a bunch of stuff to them because there were quite a few NEW items in the store.
For the Operation Christmas Child boxes we found:
- 5 New Jump Ropes – $0.50 each
- 5 New Pip-Squeak Character Markers – $0.50 each
- 1 New Transformers 7-pc Sketchbook Set (comes with notepads, pencils, erasers, pencil case) – $0.99
- 1 New in package mini Beanie Babies Elephant – $0.50
Snootz used his own money to buy this brand new Angry Birds Go Jenga set. It was $3.99 which is a great deal considering it’s new.
The box is pretty banged up on this Playmobil set but it is brand new and was only $0.50. Playmobil toys are great and they are not cheap so for $0.50 I bought it. The contents inside are complete and in the original unopened bag. We will keep this for the Happy Box (I realize I haven’t told you what that even is yet…but I will!).
Mastermind for Kids – $0.99 and will be a great game for Snootz. I also wanted it because I knew the girls would love the little colored animal pieces and we could do patterning and sorting activities with them. Sure enough, it was one of the first things that Kitty Cat wanted to play with when we got home and she began lining up the animal pieces on the board.
The plush things I probably would not have bought if the kids hadn’t been with me but the kids were with me and I did buy them.
- Fur Real Friends Dog (barks and pants when you pet him) – $0.50
- Shark Puppet – $0.50
- Sleeping Beauty plush doll (this is from the Disney Parks) $0.50
In the back of the photo you can kind of see a Lego Duplo set and that was a great find. It’s a NEW set in the package, the book has a remainder mark so I think it’s one that is being discontinued, but I bought it as a giveaway for Snootz’s birthday party. He is having a Lego birthday party, just with family, and this will be a giveaway for his baby cousin. It was $1.99.
Lastly, the best find for the week was something I can actually sell. It’s a remote control for an Imaginext Spike the Dinosaur. I paid $0.50 and should be able to get $20.00-25.00 for it. I knew what it was and what it was worth because I’ve sold accessories for Spike in the past.
Subtotal: $15.95, minus $5.00 coupon
Grand Total with Tax: $11.56 (Snootz paid me back for the Angry Birds set so I actually spent $7.57)
You can see how dangerous it can be to shop thrifty because for only a little over $11.00 I was able to find a whole bunch of things that can potentially clutter up our house. I need to list more items on eBay this week because I have worked really hard to DECLUTTER our house and don’t want to go backwards!
