Our homeschool day did not go well. Actually, the whole week hadn’t been going well. The kids were not excited about learning the things I had planned. And honestly, I wasn’t enjoying it much either. There was a lot of complaining and even some tears. Joy and peace in the homeschool? Yeah, right.
Games have a way of turning learning into fun so kids don’t even realize that they are learning! The HoliMaths X multiplication math game is exactly that. With various options for play, this game is a good tool for learning and practicing multiplication facts.
What a joy it has been to get back into our Five in a Row units! Oh, how I love this curriculum! And the best part? We haven’t even started the school year yet. 🙂 The kids enjoy these units so much they don’t even realize it’s “school”.
Finalizing curriculum choices for the year is always exciting! After four years of homeschooling I’ve learned that while going through the process of deciding, I need to remind myself to keep things simple. I have a way of trying to pack too much in which in turn, overcomplicates our lives. But when I pull in the reigns and keep it simple that allows us to focus on what is most important in our homeschool.
In celebration of my 40th birthday this week (how did that sneak up on me?!) I am sharing 40 of my favorite homeschool resources with you!
Happy Back to Homeschool!
Are you ready for a new homeschool year?! Maybe that’s the wrong question if you’ve already started your homeschool year weeks ago or you homeschool year-round and have been going straight through summer.
How do your kids react when they hear you utter this four letter word?
Do they shout with excitement, eager to learn more? Or do they shriek and groan with deep agony at the mere thought of it?
Do you have a child that loves art and enjoys working with different art mediums? What if they had the ability to not only draw something but to actually draw it three-dimensionally? To create a drawing that they can see and touch from all sides. They might think that’s pretty awesome, right?! Well then, 3D art pens would be a great art medium for them to try!
Do you enjoy reading quality picture books with your kindergartner? Do you like finding ways to connect the story to Scripture and stories from the Bible? Does your child get excited about completing learning activities in connection to the themes from the story? And would you love to have everything preplanned and outlined for you so you don’t have to spend hours of time scouring the Internet and Pinterest for ideas?
Kids are always going through “a stage”. At least in my part of the world they do. I hear parents say it all the time, “Oh, it’s just a stage” as their child is doing something that embarrasses or frustrates them.
How does your family manage through the excruciating long process of adopting a child?
How do you bear those long days, or even years, of waiting to hear some good news?
Summer is approaching and with it come long days and playful children. Hot days with active kids can equate to a momma feeling a wee bit tired, especially when she’s been up since the crack of dawn with children who awake at the first light.
