Making slime is a super fun sensory activity for kids, even older kids and parents can enjoy playing with the big hunk of goo that comes out of mixing a couple of simple ingredients together.
Games are an excellent and fun way for kids to learn and in fact they often don’t even realize that they are learning! We use games often in our homeschool and I love that we can pull out a quick game when we have a few extra minutes and sneak some meaningful learning into the day.

There is something wonderful that happens when a child becomes engaged in a story. That moment when they stop fidgeting around and become completely still, listening intently as the words come alive in their mind. It’s exciting to watch it happen, knowing that a child is growing an appreciation for books and reading, just by listening.
Our homeschool day did not go well. Actually, the whole week hadn’t been going well. The kids were not excited about learning the things I had planned. And honestly, I wasn’t enjoying it much either. There was a lot of complaining and even some tears. Joy and peace in the homeschool? Yeah, right.
Games have a way of turning learning into fun so kids don’t even realize that they are learning! The HoliMaths X multiplication math game is exactly that. With various options for play, this game is a good tool for learning and practicing multiplication facts.
What a joy it has been to get back into our Five in a Row units! Oh, how I love this curriculum! And the best part? We haven’t even started the school year yet. 🙂 The kids enjoy these units so much they don’t even realize it’s “school”.
Finalizing curriculum choices for the year is always exciting! After four years of homeschooling I’ve learned that while going through the process of deciding, I need to remind myself to keep things simple. I have a way of trying to pack too much in which in turn, overcomplicates our lives. But when I pull in the reigns and keep it simple that allows us to focus on what is most important in our homeschool.
In celebration of my 40th birthday this week (how did that sneak up on me?!) I am sharing 40 of my favorite homeschool resources with you!
Happy Back to Homeschool!
Are you ready for a new homeschool year?! Maybe that’s the wrong question if you’ve already started your homeschool year weeks ago or you homeschool year-round and have been going straight through summer.
How do your kids react when they hear you utter this four letter word?
Do they shout with excitement, eager to learn more? Or do they shriek and groan with deep agony at the mere thought of it?
Do you have a child that loves art and enjoys working with different art mediums? What if they had the ability to not only draw something but to actually draw it three-dimensionally? To create a drawing that they can see and touch from all sides. They might think that’s pretty awesome, right?! Well then, 3D art pens would be a great art medium for them to try!
